The Role

This role plays a key part in ensuring that contracts support business objectives while maintaining compliance with internal standards and external regulations. Working closely with Sales, Tender Specialists, and Legal, the Commercial Contract Specialist acts as a gatekeeper for commercial agreements, ensuring they are accurate, deliverable, and aligned with company policies.

A combination of legal knowledge and commercial awareness is essential to assess contract risks, maintain operational consistency, and drive process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contract Review and Validation
Reviewing contracts finalized by Sales, ensuring they align with company policies, product offerings, and operational capabilities. Identifying unauthorized adjustments and ensuring contractual obligations are realistic and feasible.

  • Compliance Monitoring
Setting internal contract standards and ensuring adherence to both internal policies and external regulations. Working closely with Legal to manage liability, insurance, and compliance matters.

  • Commercial Consistency
Ensuring contracts align with Sakura’s approved product lines and service commitments, preventing deviations from standard terms.

  • Collaboration with Tender Specialists
Providing guidance on contracts within the tender process and ensuring a smooth transition from tender submission to contract execution.

  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting
Tracking contract performance, flagging risks, and reporting insights to Sales and management to optimize future agreements.

  • Stakeholder Engagement
Acting as a key point of contact for contract-related inquiries, ensuring clear communication and understanding of terms among internal teams.

  • Process Optimization
Identifying opportunities to improve contract management workflows, enhancing efficiency, and minimizing risks.

  • Training and Guidance
Providing training to Sales and other departments on commercial contract principles and company standards.

  • Market and Industry Awareness
Keeping up with industry trends, tender strategies, and market developments to improve contract performance and competitiveness.

  • Experience in reviewing contracts for compliance and feasibility, ensuring adherence to internal and external standards.

  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify risks and inconsistencies in contracts.

  • A solid understanding of legal principles related to commercial contracting, with the ability to collaborate with Legal on key matters.
