Job description

About Sakura

Sakura Finetek is a global leader in tissue diagnostics and cancer detection. Every day, laboratories and hospitals around the world use our technologies to improve the speed and precision of cancer diagnoses. With headquarters in Japan, a strong European base in the Netherlands, and a growing international team, we are committed to improving lives through diagnostic excellence.

We are a purpose-driven organisation that values integrity, collaboration, accountability, and passion. We believe in empowering people to take initiative, work across borders, and deliver real impact. At Sakura, you’ll work alongside dedicated colleagues who share a commitment to innovation and customer success.

Purpose of the role

As Manager Customer Marketing & Business Development, you lead a cross-functional team focused on customer engagement, regional growth, and market expansion. You translate global strategies into local execution — through campaigns, partnerships, events, and programs that truly connect with the market.

You are also responsible for identifying new opportunities, refining go-to-market strategies, and strengthening Sakura’s brand position through relationships with key stakeholders, C-level decision-makers, and Centres of Expertise. This is a strategic role at the intersection of marketing, business development, and innovation.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead and coach the Customer Marketing and Business Development team toward high performance and clear strategic focus

  • Localise global campaigns and align communications with cultural, regional, and segment-specific needs

  • Plan and deliver impactful customer events, monitor ROI, and align activities with commercial goals

  • Collect and process customer feedback together with Sales; feed insights back into communication and product strategy

  • Lead and oversee value-based marketing programs tailored to market-specific customer needs

  • Stay close to customers by joining visits, gathering insights, and supporting strong partnerships

  • Build business cases and customer proof points to support growth strategies and solution adoption

  • Maintain knowledge of healthcare market dynamics, regulations, and reimbursement structures

  • Collaborate cross-functionally on product positioning, strategic partnerships, and market development

  • Identify and evaluate partnership or acquisition opportunities to strengthen our offering and capabilities

  • Promote Customer Value Propositions (CVPs) through targeted campaigns and advocacy

  • Enable the team to collect competitive insights and turn them into strategic opportunities

  • Monitor and report on business development progress against revenue and market expansion targets

Job requirements

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field

  • 7+ years of experience in marketing, sales, or business development, including 2+ years in a leadership role

  • Strong track record in driving revenue and executing strategic market initiatives

  • Experience in the healthcare, diagnostics, or medical devices sector (knowledge of tissue diagnostics is a strong advantage)

  • Skilled in stakeholder management, cross-functional collaboration, and customer engagement

  • Able to translate market insights into focused strategies and tangible results

  • Excellent communicator in English; additional languages are a plus

  • Strategic thinker with commercial drive and strong analytical skills

  • Proficient in business tools and platforms for planning, insight, and communication

What we offer

  • A high-impact strategic role in a purpose-driven, international organisation

  • Competitive annual salary between €93,000 and €123,000

  • Annual bonus opportunity of up to 25%

  • 29 vacation days

  • Premium-free pension plan

  • Full travel reimbursement

  • Access to a range of insurance contribution schemes (health, disability, etc.)

  • Hybrid work policy with flexibility and autonomy

  • A collaborative, ambitious, and supportive team culture
